- PAYE is charged on taxable income (gross pay less the statutory items allowed as deductions, such as NSSF) across progressive bands. The tax from each band is added up, then personal relief is subtracted. This calculator shows every step, band by band, in integer cents.
- What is the personal relief?
- Personal relief is a fixed monthly amount subtracted from the gross tax to give the PAYE payable. Its value here is resolved from the SawaAfrik registry with its KRA source and effective date, not hardcoded.
